Description

Ash Tree House is a house dating from the 17th century, with alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. It is constructed of coursed ironstone rubble, with a tile roof and brick and stone stacks. The house has a layout in the shape of an "L" and extends over two storeys and an attic, with three bays. The central doorway has a fluted wooden frame, a moulded wooden hood supported by brackets, and a six-panel door with an overlight. Windows on either side of the door have moulded stone frames, square hoods, and 20th-century wooden casements. Similar windows are present on the first floor. The gable ends are coped with kneelers. At the rear, a two-light stone-mullioned window with a square hood is situated on the ground and first floor of the left bay. A similar window appears on the first floor of the right bay. A gabled extension projecting forward from the left side at the rear, initially from the 17th century, was later encased in brick during the 19th century. The interior of the house has not been inspected.
