Description

Hillside View, Lane End Cottage, and The Old Smithy are three houses dating from the mid-18th century, with a later addition from the early 19th century. Nos. 14 and 16 are constructed of regular and squared coursed lias stone with a thatched roof. They were originally likely single-unit dwellings, now two storeys high and presenting a four-window range of 19th and 20th-century casement windows, each set under a wood lintel. A single casement window on the first floor, far to the left, features glazing bars. Three 19th-century plank and braced doors are positioned between the windows, also beneath wood lintels. Large brick stacks are located at each end of the buildings. No. 18, to the left, is built of squared coursed lias stone to a single-unit plan and two storeys, featuring a two-window range of casement windows. One ground-floor window has leaded lights. A large brick stack is shared with No. 16.
