Description

Rose Cottage comprises two houses located on the north side of Townsend Lane in Upper Boddington. Dating to the mid-18th century, the houses are built of squared coursed lias stone with a plain tile roof. Originally planned as two-unit dwellings, they now present as a four-window range. The windows are casements set beneath wooden lintels. Each house has a 6-panelled door, set within a 20th-century porch situated between the windows. The gables feature ashlar parapets and kneelers. Two 20th-century dormers are visible on the roof of No.16. Brick stacks are positioned at the ridge and end of the building. The interior of No.18 retains an open fireplace with a bressumer in the entrance hall, along with panelled window shutters, original window catches, and plank doors. A dogleg staircase leads to the attic.
