Description
Nos. 47 and 49 on Bedford Road are a row of three cottages, originally numbered as 2, 3, and 4 on the Ordnance Survey map. They date from the late 18th century to early 19th century and have been altered in the 20th century. The cottages are constructed of coursed squared ironstone with a straw thatch roof, featuring brick stacks at the ends and along the ridge. They have a one-unit plan and are two stories tall with a three-window range. There is a blocked door on the far left, while the centre and right of centre have 20th-century plank doors, all topped with wood lintels. The ground floor has three-light casement windows, and the first floor has two-light casements, both with wood lintels. No. 47 includes spine beams and purlin roofs.
