Description
Cowpers Oak Lodge is a farmhouse dating from the mid to late 18th century, with alterations made in the 20th century. The building is constructed of coursed squared limestone and features a pantile roof, along with brick end stacks that have paired square brick flues. It has a three-unit plan and stands two storeys tall with an attic, comprising a six-window range.
The entrance is a four-panel door located to the left of centre, framed by a pegged wood surround and a wood lintel. The ground floor includes three-light casement windows on the left and far right, a two-light casement window to the right of the door, and two-light casements on the first floor. All doors and windows are topped with continuous wood lintels.
To the right, there is a single-storey extension, and at the rear, a one-storey-and-attic extension features a catslide roof. Inside, the lodge is noted for its chamfered spine beams and an open fireplace with a bressumer.
