Description
Alley Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the mid-18th century, which was remodelled in the early to mid-19th century. It is built of squared coursed limestone and has a pantile roof. The original layout was a two-unit plan, and the building stands two storeys high with an attic, featuring a three-window range. The central entrance has a 19th-century panelled and part-glazed door, which is sheltered by a wooden porch also from the 19th century. The first floor has sash windows with glazing bars and wood lintels, while the ground floor windows have stone lintels, all adorned with ashlar dressings. There are two roof dormers with plain casements and brick stacks at each end of the building. To the left of the entrance, there is evidence of a blocked door with a gauged stone head. The rear elevation includes a 19th-century extension. Inside, there is an early 19th-century staircase featuring a stick balustrade.
