Description
No. 40 on Drayton Road is a house dating from the mid-18th century. It is constructed of squared coursed limestone and features a thatched roof. The building originally had a two-unit plan and stands two storeys high with a two-window range. The ground floor has a casement window with glazing bars on the left, a plain casement window above, and a part-leaded casement window on the right of the first floor, all of which are set under wooden lintels. The central entrance is a 19th-century plank door, also under a wooden lintel. There are brick stacks located at the ridge and at the end of the building. A 19th-century lean-to extension is present at the rear. Although the interior was not inspected, it is noted to have spine beams and plank doors.
