Description
No. 4 Northampton Road is a cottage dating from the 18th century, with alterations made in the 19th century. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble and features a thatched roof, along with brick stacks at the ends and internally. The building has an L-shaped plan and is two stories high with a two-window range.
To the left of the projecting wing, there is a plank door with a wooden lintel that extends over a three-light casement window. On the first floor to the left, there is a two-light casement window with a wooden lintel set in an eyebrow dormer. There is also a single-storey extension to the left with a lean-to roof. The projecting wing on the right side has a three-light casement window on the ground floor to the left, a one-light window on the ground floor gable end facing the street, and a two-light window on the first floor of the gable. Inside, the cottage features chamfered spine beams.
