Description

Browns Lodge is a house, originally a farmhouse, dating to the 18th century, with alterations made in the 20th century. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble with a slate roof and brick end stacks, one of which sits on a stone base. The building was originally two units. It is two storeys and an attic in height, with a three-window front. A 20th-century glazed door is located just left of centre, topped by a wooden lintel. The ground floor has three-light 20th-century casement windows to the left and right, all with wooden lintels. The first floor has a two-light casement window on the far left, also with a wooden lintel. A two-storey, one-window extension has been added to the left end, featuring 20th-century two-light casement windows and wooden lintels, with the first-floor window featuring stop-chamfered sides. Inside, the house has a chamfered spine beam and an open fireplace with a chamfered bressumer.
