Description
Shepherdess Cottage and the attached barn are a house and barn combination dating from the 18th century, with remodels from the 19th and early 20th centuries. They are constructed from squared coursed limestone and topped with thatch roofs. The house features a two-window range of casements with glazing bars, set beneath artificial stone lintels. A central 20th-century door, also under a similar lintel, is sheltered by a lean-to thatch porch. The left gable has an ashlar parapet and a stone stack at the end, along with an oval plaque. The rear of the house is similar in design. The attached barn on the right has a central cart entrance with a wooden lintel and 20th-century plank doors. A small plank door at the rear is flanked by casement windows. Inside the barn, there are two pairs of raised crucks, which have likely been reset and altered.
