Description
Nutcracker Cottage is a 17th-century cottage located on Meeting Lane in Burton Latimer. It is constructed from semi-coursed rubble stone and features a roof made of 20th-century concrete interlocking tiles, which replaced the original thatch. The cottage has a two-unit plan and stands at two low storeys.
The front includes a board door and a three-light window in a stone and brick lean-to addition on the left. To the right, there is a canted bay window with small-paned casement openings, along with a small single-light window above it that has a wooden lintel. Additionally, there is a three-light casement window with a wooden lintel on the ground floor. A low addition can be found at the rear of the cottage.
Inside, although the interior has been altered, it still retains a chamfered and stopped spine beam, as well as an inglenook bressumer inscribed with the date C1669B.
