ILSINGTON HIGHER BRIMLEY SX 77 NE 3/101 Barn Cottage -

GV II

Cottage. C17. Stone, painted in ground storey, roughcast above. Thatched roof; single-storey addition to right slated at rear. Large projecting granite chimney stack, slightly tapered, with offsets and shaped cap, in right-hand gable. 2 storeys; additions to right single-storey. Original cottage is 2 widely spaced windows wide. At left hand-end of ground storey, a C19 wood casement window of 2 lights, each light with 3 panes. Doorway, off-centre to left, has C19 plank door with C20 ornamental hinges, the top half of door opening separately; C20 thatched hood above. 2 C20 windows to right of doorway, the right-hand window with a bow window inserted into it. Upper storey windows have 2-light wood casements with 6 panes per light. Flat roofed addition to right has 1 small C20 window in front, but the rear part is an older lean-to, its plank side door having old wrought-iron strap hinges. Interior not inspected.
