Description
Barn Cottage is a 17th-century cottage constructed of stone, with the ground storey painted and the upper part roughcast. It features a thatched roof, while a single-storey addition to the right has a slated roof at the rear. A large, slightly tapered granite chimney stack with offsets and a shaped cap projects from the right-hand gable. The original cottage has two widely spaced windows. On the left side of the ground storey, there is a 19th-century wood casement window with two lights, each containing three panes. The off-centre doorway to the left features a 19th-century plank door with 20th-century ornamental hinges, and the top half of the door opens separately. Above the door is a 20th-century thatched hood. To the right of the doorway are two 20th-century windows, one of which has a bow window inserted into it. The upper storey has windows with two-light wood casements, each with six panes per light. The flat-roofed addition to the right has one small 20th-century window at the front, while the rear part is an older lean-to with a plank side door that has old wrought-iron strap hinges. The interior has not been inspected.
