Description
65 Church Street is a cottage dating from the 17th century that has been altered over time. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble with ironstone quoins and some rough ironstone banding, topped with a 20th-century interlocking tile roof. Originally built as one storey with an attic, the cottage has been raised to two storeys.
The right-hand gable end features a brick stack on a stone base. On the ground floor, there are two 2-light 20th-century casement windows beneath timber lintels, while the upper floor has a mix of window styles including a 2-light, a single-light, and a 3-light window, with one of the 3-light windows having a pegged frame and a central casement with H-L hinges. The gable end has a canted corner to the right and includes a 20th-century porch that contains a boarded door with a wooden lintel and a blocked window above.
At the rear, there is a 3-light ovolo-moulded wood mullioned window and a small 2-storey wing addition. Inside, the cottage features a small inglenook with a canted bressumer and a 19th-century chimney-piece, along with a chamfered and stopped spine beam and two wide-boarded doors.
