Description
Corner Cottage is a 17th-century cottage located on Glebe Lane in Staverton. It is built from coursed ironstone rubble and features a tile roof with a brick stack. The cottage has an L-shaped plan, consisting of two storeys and a cellar, with two bays.
On the ground floor, there is a cellar window with a concrete lintel in the left bay, alongside a two-light casement window with a concrete lintel to the left and a similar three-light window to the right. The first floor has two-light casement windows with wooden lintels. Both floors on the left side display three-light stone-mullioned windows with square hoods.
There is a wing extending back from the left side, also from the 17th century, constructed with similar materials and comprising two storeys and one bay. This wing features a 20th-century bay window on the ground floor and a two-light casement window with a wooden lintel above. The entrance is located in a 20th-century extension at the rear.
Inside, the cottage contains stop-chamfered spine beams and an open fireplace, with the bressumer said to have been renewed.
