Description
Nos 2 and 4 on West Street are 18th-century, two-storey houses built from rubble with dressed stone surrounds around the windows. They feature a steep mansard roof covered with stone slates and have three dormers with sash windows. The stone chimney stacks have a cornice. The first floor has five hung sash windows with glazing bars. There is a late 19th-century shop front at the east end of the ground floor, which includes carved consoles. The central entrance to the house has a wooden doorcase with a semi-circular-headed doorway set in deep reveals. The door itself has incised panels and a fanlight above. Nos 2 to 36 (even) and 42 to 46A (even) and 52 to 98 (even) form a group.
