Description

This dovecote, located approximately 30 meters southwest of number 37 (Franey House) in Woodnewton, dates back to 1769. It is constructed from squared coursed and part banded limestone and ironstone, topped with a corrugated iron sheet roof. The building has a rectangular plan and features a central plank door beneath a wooden lintel. On the east gable, there is a square opening with a stone lintel that also displays the datestone. Although the interior was not inspected, it is noted to contain about 250 nesting boxes.
