Description

Number 53, also known as Manor Farmhouse, is a farmhouse with origins dating back to the 17th century, which was reconstructed in the late 19th century. It features squared coursed limestone with ashlar dressings and has Collyweston and Welsh slate roofs. The building has a two-unit plan with a central hall and stands two storeys high. The façade includes a four-window range of chamfered stone mullion windows, with the two central windows on the first floor being of two lights, while the flanking windows are of three lights. There is a similar single-light window on the ground floor, to the right of the centre. To the left of centre, there is a six-panel door beneath a wood lintel. The farmhouse has ashlar quoins, ashlar gable parapets, and ashlar end stacks, each featuring a pulvinated frieze.

Attached to the left is a one-bay structure that may have originally been a separate dwelling. The 18th-century stables are attached at right angles to the rear and have plank doors under wood lintels, along with three hipped dormers. The stables feature a chamfered plinth and a Collyweston slate roof. Part of this range may have served as a barn. Although the interior of the house was not inspected, it is noted to have remains of open fireplaces with bressumers.
