Description
No. 48, known as Gable End, is a building that combines two houses into one dwelling, dating from the 17th century and the late 18th to early 19th century. It features squared coursed limestone and lias with Collyweston slate roofs. The left section, from the 17th century, is a single storey with an attic and has a three-window range of 19th-century casements beneath wood lintels; the center window was originally a door. It includes hipped eaves dormers for the attic, which have 20th-century casements and glazed cheeks, along with brick and stone stacks at the ends. The right section, from the late 18th to early 19th century, is two storeys with an attic, featuring a two-window range of 19th-century casements under wood lintels and a central plank door beneath a wood lintel. It has a pair of hipped roof dormers with 19th-century casement windows, ashlar gable parapets, and brick stacks at the ends. There is a 19th-century extension at the rear. The interior has not been inspected.
