Description
The building consists of a dovecote and an attached wash house, located approximately 5 meters north of number 48 on Main Street in Woodnewton. The dovecote likely dates from the 18th century, while the wash house has a datestone indicating it was built in 1832. Both structures are constructed from squared coursed limestone and feature roofs made of Collyweston slate and pantiles. The rectangular dovecote has a central door beneath a wooden lintel and a gabled roof. The single-storey wash house, which is attached to the north gable of the dovecote, also displays the datestone in its gable end. Although the interior was not inspected, the dovecote is noted to contain 412 nesting boxes.
