Description
Bakehouse Cottage is an early 18th-century house located on Main Street, which is shown as High Street on Ordnance Survey maps. The building features regular coursed limestone with a thatch roof and has an L-shaped plan. It is a single-storey structure with an attic. The main front has a two-window range, with a gabled cross wing that projects forward to the right. The windows are 19th and 20th-century casements set under wooden lintels, and there is a similar attic window beneath a central eyebrow dormer. To the right, there is a 20th-century door and porch, along with a brick stack at the end. The right elevation mirrors the main front, also featuring an eyebrow dormer. The rear elevation includes a large central eyebrow dormer. Although the interior was not inspected, it is noted to have remains of an open fireplace and ceiling beams.
