Description

This is an early 18th-century house located on Station Road, Gretton. The house is constructed of regular coursed and squared limestone and ironstone, with a thatched roof. It has an L-shaped layout. The building is single-storied with an attic. The main front of the house has a two-window range on the left and a one-window range set at a right angle to the right. All windows are 20th-century casements in the original openings, covered by wooden lintels. Two eyebrow dormers light the attic space on the left-hand range. A 20th-century porch and door are situated at the junction of the two wings. The roof has brick and ashlar gable parapets, as well as brick and ashlar stacks at the ridge and ends. The left gable displays evidence of earlier rooflines, and there is an oven projection to the right. The interior, which was not inspected, is said to contain ceiling beams and an open fireplace with a bressumer.
