Description
Windhovers is a vicarage, later converted into a house, dating from around 1830. It is constructed from limestone ashlar with a slate roof. The building follows a double-depth plan and is two storeys high. The main front has a four-window arrangement of sash windows with glazing bars; some windows are tripartite, and all are set within flat stone arches. A six-panel door is located to the left of the centre, framed by a moulded stone arch-head surround and a fanlight with radiating bars. The wall around the door projects forward and returns above the door, incorporating a chamfered plinth. A gabled cross wing extends forward on the far left, while a slight projection with a gable is present to the right of the centre. The shallow gabled roof is finished with ashlar gable parapets, kneelers, and ashlar stacks at the ridge and ends. The garden front mirrors this design. Inside, a staircase features a stick balustrade, and there are marble fireplaces.
