Description
The Old School House is a building that was originally a school and attached master's house, now converted into a single dwelling. It has a datestone from 1853 and is constructed of limestone ashlar with a slate roof. The house was originally designed with a three-unit plan and, along with the school, forms an L-shape layout. It is a single storey with an attic and features a four-window range of 20th-century casements with glazing bars, set in original openings beneath rusticated heads. There are also 20th-century half dormers. A central stone porch with a pediment and a rusticated arch-head opening leads into the house. Ashlar stacks are located at the eaves to the left of the porch and at both ends of the building. The school room is attached at a right angle to the right, featuring a plain nine-light casement under a stone lintel in the gable end. To the left, there is a plain gabled stone porch with a four-panel door. The interior has not been inspected. This building is included for its group value.
