Description

This is a late 17th-century house that was partly remodelled in the late 18th or early 19th century. It is constructed of squared coursed ironstone and limestone, with some areas of banded stone. The roof is covered in Collyweston slate, and the building has a 4-unit plan with a cross wing. It is two storeys in height, with an attic. The main front has a 4-window arrangement. The second bay from the left projects forward as a gabled cross wing, featuring two 2-light stone mullion windows on the upper floor, one with leaded lights staggered between the floor and the upper section. There is also a 3-light stone mullion window, partly with leaded lights, in the attic. All windows in the cross wing have drip moulds. The bay to the far left has a single 2-light stone mullion window on the ground floor and a similar single-light window above. A gabled turret to the left of this window formerly housed a staircase. The return wall of the cross wing has two 2-light stone mullion windows, which are now blocked. The two windows to the right are 10-paned sash windows with moulded stone surrounds. The central 4-panel door, situated between the windows, has a matching moulded stone surround with a simple entablature and cornice above. The property has ashlar gable parapets with kneelers, and truncated ashlar stacks at the ridge and end. The rear elevation features a 4-light stone mullion window with diamond-shaped leaded lights. The interior was not inspected, however it is noted that the hall contains an early 19th-century staircase with a stick balustrade.
