Description
Chantry Cottage is a house dating from the mid-17th century. It is constructed of squared coursed limestone and features a Collyweston slate roof, with a T-shaped plan. The building has two storeys with an attic, and each wing has a single-window range, creating a total of three bays with irregularly spaced two-light stone mullion windows that have drip moulds. The gable facing the road has a blocked first-floor window, and the elevation to the right is blank. The return wall to the right includes a six-panel door with glazed toplights beneath a concrete lintel. The cottage has large limestone quoins, ashlar gable parapets, kneelers, and two ashlar stacks at the ridge, each topped with moulded cornices. The gable elevation to the right and the rear elevation have 20th-century lean-to extensions. The interior has not been inspected but likely contains remnants of an open fireplace.
