Description

Number 8 and the part of Number 7 above and to the rear of Number 8 is a house that has been converted into a shop, dating from the early 18th century. It features regular coursed and banded limestone and ironstone, topped with a slate and 20th-century concrete tile roof. The building has an L-shaped plan and stands two storeys tall. The street-facing elevation has a two-window range of sash windows with rendered heads and keyblocks, along with a 20th-century shop front. To the right, there is an ashlar gable parapet and brick and stone stacks at either end.

The right elevation includes a six-panelled door with a moulded wood surround and a fanlight with diamond panes, as well as a sash window with glazing bars beneath a wood lintel. The left elevation features an ashlar gable parapet with kneelers, and the left corner is chamfered and corbelled. There is a blocked door opening at the first floor of the rear gable, which has a wood lintel. The left side of the rear gable has a horizontal sliding sash window with glazing bars and a wood lintel. Inside, the rooms at the rear of the shop and on the first floor have some chamfered ceiling beams and panelled window shutters.
