Description
Lloyds Bank is a mid-19th century building located on Market Street in Wellingborough. It is constructed of limestone and granite ashlar with a slate roof. The building features a ground floor banking hall and stands three storeys tall, with a five-window range of sash windows on the first and second floors. The ground floor has three large windows, with the centre window partly blocked, and is flanked on both sides by 19th-century panelled doors. Each ground floor opening is accented by large granite pilasters that have chamfered and moulded surrounds, topped with foliated capitals and roundels. The first and second floor sash windows are adorned with moulded stone heads, and the first-floor windows have decorated panels above that are linked by a moulded stone string course. The building also features moulded stone cornices and a rendered parapet above. The interior banking hall is notable for its large moulded ceiling beams.
