Description
The Tudor Restaurant, located at 29 and 30 Sheep Street in Wellingborough, consists of two houses that are now used as a restaurant. These buildings are believed to have medieval origins but primarily date from the late 16th century and were restored in the early 20th century. They are constructed from squared coursed ironstone and feature a timber frame with a thatched roof. The layout is L-shaped with a central carriage arch and the building stands two storeys high.
The main front has a three-window range. Number 29 features a part-glazed door with a flight of steps and a canted bay window with a stone base to the left. Number 30 has a ribbed door and a two-light wooden casement window to the left. The oversailing first floor is timber framed and now plastered. The central first-floor window has an arch-headed centre light flanked by two-light casements, all with leaded lights. The central gable is flanked by two smaller gables. The rear wing is similar in style and is entirely constructed of stone.
Inside, Number 29 contains a small open fireplace with a bressumer and chamfered ceiling beams, and some original roof timbers may still be present.
