Description
No. 3 Burystead Place is a house that has been converted into an office. It dates from the mid-18th century and features some early 20th-century alterations. The building is constructed of ironstone ashlar and has a plain-tile roof at the front and a slate roof at the rear. Originally, it had a two-unit plan and stands two storeys high with an attic.
The façade has a five-window range, with a pair of central part-glazed doors that are topped by an arched hood featuring shell moulding. The entrance is flanked by 17th-century style wooden casements that have a dentilled cornice and leaded lights. The first-floor windows are sash windows with glazing bars, segmental arch heads, and keyblocks. The building is adorned with a moulded stone cornice and gable parapets that include kneelers. There is a brick stack at the ridge and at the end of the building. The ground floor windows and the interior reflect early 20th-century design. This house is one of a pair of 18th-century semi-detached houses, alongside No. 2 Burystead Place.
