Description

Number 69 is a house that has been converted into a shop, originally built in the mid-18th century with a later refronting of an earlier structure. It is constructed of brick with render, features limestone dressings, and has a pantile hip roof. The building has a double-depth plan and is designed in a mid-Georgian style, standing three storeys tall with a basement and a three-window range. The façade includes rusticated pilasters and a deep moulded parapet coping. The right-hand doorway is adorned with broad, curved, fluted brackets supporting a moulded canopy, a fanlight, and a six-panel door, along with a central mid-20th century plate-glass shop front. The windows have flat brick arches with ashlar keys and plate-glass sashes in flush boxes, and there is a small hipped dormer.

Inside, the property features mid-18th century panelling, panelled doors with moulded architraves, moulded cornicing, chimneypieces, and china cupboards. The vestibule includes key and impost blocks leading to the rear stair hall, which contains a dogleg staircase with turned balusters. There is also a shell niche and bracketed fluted pilasters for a mid-19th century lavabo. The roof has not been seen. Additionally, the property has spear-headed front area railings with a two-leaf gate in the middle leading to a basement hatch, located to the right of the doorway.
