Public house. Mid C17. Render and brick over timber-frame, brick side stack and pantile eaves gable roof. Double-depth plan. 3 storeys, basement and attic; 1-bay range. Gabled front, the storeys divided by tiled lean-to canopies. Left-hand doorway has a half-glazed door and rectangular overlight, and a canted bay with plate-glass sashes, below a lean-to on good moulded, curved canopies; first and second floors have canopies with fretted eaves, between canted bays and an attic with C20 glazing; deep barge-boards with diamond panels and turned finials to the eaves and apex. INTERIOR: C20 public house interior on the ground-floor; winder stair with stick balusters; first-floor beams have cyma chamfer stops, and ovolo mouldings to the bay frame; arched collars to the roof trusses. SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: wrought-iron public house sign attached to the second floor has 3 linked horseshoes; a Pennant-framed hatch in the pavement to the left of the bay.
