Description
31 Old Market Street is a house that has been converted into a shop. It features a refronting from the mid to late 18th century, although it incorporates earlier buildings. The structure is made of brick with limestone dressings and has a pantile hip roof that runs parallel to the street front. It has a double-depth plan and stands three storeys tall with a two-window range. The 20th-century shop front includes a reconstituted marble surround for the plate-glass windows and a central door. The upper openings have five stepped voussoirs above 8/8-pane sash windows. At the rear, there is a full-height service block topped with a hip roof. The interior has not been inspected.
