Description

Regent House is a building that consists of two houses, now functioning as one office. It dates from the early 18th century and early 19th century. The structure is made of squared coursed ironstone and limestone, featuring a stucco facade and an L-shaped plan. It has three storeys and a six-window range.

The central entrance features a pair of six-panelled doors with glazed toplights, panelled reveals, and reeded wood surrounds. These doors are flanked by Doric columns with a cornice and entablature above. The sash windows have moulded wood architraves. The ground floor is finished in rusticated stucco, topped with a moulded plaster cornice. The corners of the building have rusticated quoins, and there is a plain eaves parapet. A stone stack is located at the ridge.

On the left elevation, there is one two-light stone mullion window and a tripartite sash window with glazing bars, both set under wood lintels. The rear projecting wing features ashlar gable parapets and kneelers, while the rear elevation has one sash window with glazing bars.

Inside, the hall has panelled walls and a moulded plaster ceiling, which is likely to have been reset. The staircase in No. 62 is an early 19th-century design with a stick balustrade. The room to the left of the entrance has a mid-19th-century moulded plaster ceiling, while the room to the right features early 19th-century alcoves and cornice. Some first-floor rooms have 19th-century plaster cornices, and the first-floor landing has a plain vaulted ceiling. Additionally, there are some six-panel doors with early 19th-century reeded wood surrounds.
