Description

Queens Hall Day Centre, originally a public library, was built in 1887 and is located on the west side of Wellingborough High Street. The main front is constructed of squared coursed ironstone with ashlar dressings, while the rear is made of brick and features a slate roof. The building consists of two halls, one larger than the other, along with vestibules and ancillary rooms, all on a single storey.

The main facade showcases two gables in a 17th-century style. The left gable features a pair of large, 12-light stone mullion windows with transoms, which are connected at the top by an inscribed panel with a moulded cornice above. Above these windows is a smaller 4-light stone mullion window adorned with scroll decoration. Both gables are topped with ball finials at the eaves and apex. The right gable mirrors this style and includes a 9-light stone mullion window with transoms and an inscription above. To the left of this window, there is an entrance with a 4-centred moulded stone arch that has "Free Library" inscribed above it, along with a similar entrance in the porch to the far left. The left gable features the inscription "Anno Domini Saint Helliers MDCCCLXXXVII" above its window, while the right gable has "Queens Hall" inscribed above its window. The sides and rear of the building are plain and include casement windows.

Inside, the larger hall retains a moulded wood surround to the proscenium arch of the former stage.
