Description
Collett Farmhouse is a house dated 1736 on the quoin to the left, but it is likely from the late 17th century. The building is constructed of coursed rubble stone, partly dressed at the front, featuring a first-floor band course and narrow moulded wooden eaves. At the rear, there is a wing with a timber truss in the gable and thin brick infill. The hipped roof is covered with 20th-century concrete tiles and has a rebuilt chimney made of thin brick located between the left bays. The house is L-shaped, with two storeys and an attic, comprising three and a half bays.
The windows are 19th to early 20th-century three-light transomed wooden casements, with the ground floor windows having shallow pointed stone arches, raised keyblocks, and springers. There is a half bay between the right bays that features a two-light window above a top-lit five-panelled door, which has a 20th-century gabled hood. The house also has two gabled dormers with paired wooden casements.
On the first floor, between the left bays, there is a stone panel carved with a coat of arms surrounded by oak leaves. The right bay contains rooms with reused 17th-century panelling, and the upper room features a frieze inscribed with verses from Ecclesiastes and Proverbs.
