Description

Newhouse Farmhouse is a house dating from the late 18th century, featuring a front range with parts of an earlier building incorporated into the rear ranges. It is constructed of red and vitreous brick, with the right gable displaying diagonal lines of vitreous headers. The house has a moulded brick plinth and eaves, and a tiled roof with flanking brick chimneys. It stands two storeys high with an attic and has two bays. The windows are late 19th to early 20th century three-light wooden casements with transoms, and those on the ground floor have segmental heads. There are two hipped dormers with paired wooden casements and moulded cornices. The central entrance features a flush panelled door with a rectangular fanlight and segmental head, above which is a blocked window. There are lean-to extensions on either side, with the left extension having a blocked segmental-headed doorway. A range at right angles to the rear of the right bay has a 19th-century brick facing, a central chimney, and an entry to the rear. The gabled bay at the rear of the left bay includes old leaded casements.
