Description

The Yard and Yard Cottage are two houses situated in Hambleden village. The Yard, on the left, likely dates to the early 19th century, and may be a remodelling of an earlier structure. Yard Cottage, to the right, is dated 1799 and is constructed of flint with brick dressings; The Yard has cogged eaves. Both buildings have old tile roofs and brick chimneys.

The Yard is a single storey with an attic, and has two bays. It features a 20th-century sash window to the left, two paired wooden casements in steeply pitched half-timbered gables, and a half-glazed door to the right. The ground floor window openings have brick surrounds. Yard Cottage is one-and-a-half storeys and has two bays containing 20th-century leaded casements, with three lights on the ground floor and two lights in gabled semi-dormers. A central 20th-century door gives access. The buildings are included in the list for their group value.
