Description

The Kenrick Mausoleum, located in the churchyard, is a mid-18th century structure that was restored in 1952. It was built by Clayton Kenrick in memory of his father, John Kenrick, and his sister, Elizabeth, as noted on the inscription on the frieze. The mausoleum is square in plan and constructed of ashlar stone. It features a moulded plinth and cornice at the base, with two arcaded inscription panels on each side. These panels have architrave arches supported by piers and Tuscan columns that hold up the entablature. The structure is topped with an octagonal ashlar dome and a stone urn finial adorned with swags, along with two surviving corner urns. Most of the inscriptions commemorating members of the Kenrick family have become mostly illegible over time.
