Description

MEDMENHAM HENLEY ROAD SU 88 SW (south side) 8/137 Nos.1-5 (Consec.) Church Cottages 21.6.55 GV II Five cottages. C17 cross wing to right; 2 centre bays probably C18; early-mid C19 bay to left. C17 wing is timber framed with brick and plaster infill, part whitewashed; centre bays are of chalk rubble, rendered and colourwashed; left bay is of flint and brick. C20 tile roofs, brick chimneys, those to centre and right partly of thin brick. One storey and attic - 2 storeys. C17 gabled bay projects to right and has paired wooden casements and entry in right side. Centre bays have horizontal sliding sash to left, 3-light wooden casement to right, paired wooden casements in gabled dormers, and flanking board doors, the left door in C20 porch. Right bay has 2 storeys of wooden casements with segmental heads, and board door in C20 porch to right. Interior: centre bays have re-used crucks as tie-beams and collars, and re-used heavy purlins.
