Description
The Dog and Badger is a public house and cottage, likely dating from the 17th century, with some alterations. The front features whitewashed roughcast, while the left gable end and rear are made of whitewashed chalk block with brick dressings, and there is slight timbering in the left gable. The building has a half-hipped plain tile roof and a chimney with attached shafts of thin brick between the left bays, along with a later brick chimney on the front right. It is one storey and has an attic, with three bays. The windows include various wooden casements, two-light in gabled dormers, and ground floor windows with flush-panelled shutters. There is a 20th-century door with a glazed and barred surround and a lean-to hood on brackets between the right bays, as well as a 20th-century chalk lobby at the left end. To the right, there is a two-bay former outbuilding, now serving as a bar, which features two 20th-century wooden casements, a door, and a skylight. At the rear, there is a brick cottage wing that is also one storey with an attic, featuring wooden casements and a small gable behind a lateral chimney.
