Description
Quarry Cottage and The Old School is a cottage and former school located on Henley Road in Medmenham. The cottage dates from the late 18th century and is constructed of flint and chalk with brick dressings and a tiled roof. It has a small brick chimney on the right side, is two storeys tall, and features two bays. The first floor has paired 20th-century metal casement windows that are top-hung, while the ground floor has a window in a blocked doorway with an arched head and a 20th-century door to the left. The school, built in 1830, is made of brick and has a later central buttress and a tiled roof. It is a single storey with two bays and features three-light leaded windows with segmental heads. The entrance to the school is accessed through the village hall, which was constructed in 1936 and projects to the right. The buildings were built in a chalk quarry and are included for their group value.
