Description

Gillmans Cottage is a house dating from the 17th and early 18th centuries. It is constructed of chalk block and flint with brick dressings, and has a half-hipped plain tile roof. A chimney is visible with some narrow brickwork to the right of the centre, and a later brick chimney is to the right. The house is one storey and has an attic, with three bays arranged around a cross passage between the right bays. Windows are 20th-century casements, with three lights to the ground floor and two lights in gabled dormers. A boarded door is positioned between the right bays. The interior of the central bay features a large fireplace and stop-chamfered spine beams with run-out stops. The property is noted on page 256 of the Royal Commission on Historical Monuments and was known as Mon. 7 (The Post Office).
