Description
Knoll Cottage is a house dating from the 17th century, featuring two original bays with a later lean-to at the eastern end and extensions added around 1967 to the west and south. The original bays are constructed with timber framing, which has whitewashed render infill and one exposed curved brace on the south side. The lean-to is made of flint and brick, with part of it also whitewashed, while the 1967 extensions are built from whitewashed brick. The roof is tiled, with the 17th-century section covered in old tiles and a brick chimney located at the eastern end.
The cottage has two storeys. On the south side, there are three-light wooden casements in the right bay and 20th-century metal casements in the left bay. The north side features a door in the right return of the lean-to, single wooden lights in the narrow exposed part of the original building, and 1967 catslide extensions in front of the remaining structure. The extension includes barred wooden casements. Inside, the timber framing is visible, showcasing large curved braces to the central truss, slight spine beams, and old board doors.
