Description

The Old Vicarage is a former vicarage that has been converted into a house. It likely dates from the early 18th century but has undergone significant alterations and extensions around 1860 and in the 20th century. The original core consists of three central bays that are roughcast and colourwashed, topped with a hipped roof. The rest of the building is made of colourwashed brick with plain tile roofs and features colourwashed brick and rendered chimneys, including one at the rear with grouped shafts.

The front of the house has flat wooden eaves supported by paired brackets, which were probably renewed in the 19th or 20th century. The building is two storeys high, with a three-bay double pile core that has late 19th-century cross windows on the first floor. The ground floor features an entry in a flat-roofed glazed verandah extension added in 1905. To the left, there is a narrow 19th-century extension, and to the right, another 19th-century extension includes a large oriel window in a gabled bay with bargeboards. The rear has irregular gables with sash windows, including a narrow staircase bay that has two arched sashes in a Gothick style.

The interior has been much altered, including an arched passage cut through the central stack. It is said to contain remnants of a medieval building, although any evidence of this is well concealed.
