Description

A pair of houses, originally one, dating from around 1905 and designed by Sir Reginald Blomfield. The buildings are constructed of red brick in English bond, with a moulded wooden eaves cornice featuring decorative brackets (modillions), and a plain tile roof. The brick chimneys have moulded cornice caps. The style is Queen Anne.

The south end features a large, overhanging gable which is rendered and whitewashed, supported by elaborately carved scroll brackets and surrounded by a modillion cornice. This gable contains a three-light wooden casement window in the attic, with a small coved wooden cornice. Below, there are two five-sided, two-storey bay windows, also with barred wooden casements. The east and west sides have approximately two bays of barred wooden casement windows with gauged heads, and central half-glazed doors. A later 20th-century extension, whitewashed brick and with a flat roof, is situated at the north end of Southlands.
