Description

Yew Tree Cottage, Picketts Cottage, and Weybrook Cottage are a row of three cottages located on Medmenham Ferry Lane. The cottages consist of four bays from the 16th century on the right, one bay from the 17th century, and one bay from the 1970s on the left. The 16th and 17th century bays are timber framed with brick infill, which was formerly colourwashed. The 16th century bays feature curved braces at the center, traces of close studding, and some thin brick infill. The cottages have a plain tile roof, with a central chimney and an external stack on the right made of thin brick, along with a later brick chimney to the left of the 17th century bay. The buildings are two storeys high and have paired leaded casements, mostly from the 20th century, as well as a barred wooden window at the center of the ground floor. There is a 20th century door in a gabled porch to the left, an old board door in a 20th century lean-to porch to the right of the center, and another 20th century door and casement in a hipped porch to the right. Inside, the 16th century bays have heavy curved braces supporting the tie-beams and curved wind-braces, while a chimney stack, likely from the 17th century, has been inserted in the left 16th century bay, featuring winder stairs aligned with it.
