Description
Abbot's Place and Herons Cottage is a former stable block that has been converted into two houses, dating from around 1900 and altered since then. The building is constructed of red brick with a plain tile roof and features brick chimneys with 'V' pilasters and off-set heads. It has a U-shaped plan, with the main range consisting of one and a half storeys and single-storey wings. The windows and door surrounds are made of stone mullions, and there are four semi-dormers with cornices and three-light leaded casements in wooden frames. The upper storey of the central bay is half-timbered, jettied, and gabled, featuring a similar casement. The front gables of the side wings include canted wooden bay windows with leaded lights and blind lunettes that have keyed stone surrounds. A wall across the front has various piers. The building is included for its group value.
