Description
No. 28 on Winslow Road is a house and shop that dates from the 17th to 18th century, with a 19th-century extension. The original structure has three bays on the right, featuring a timber frame with slight scantling and whitewashed brick infill. It has a 20th-century shingled roof and a brick chimney on the right. The building is two storeys high, with a 20th-century barred wooden casement window on the ground floor to the right, while the other windows are two- or three-light leaded casements. There are boarded doors to the left and between the right-hand bays. The 19th-century extension on the left, which is now a shop, is constructed of red and white chequer brick with a slate roof and a central brick chimney. This extension is also two storeys high and has two bays, with the left bay slightly projecting. It features a 20th-century three-light leaded casement and an upper door on the first floor, along with two other doors. The building was originally a bakery, and there is a further 19th-century extension, now used as garages, set back to the far left.
