Description
No. 6 Smithfield End is a small house dating from the 17th century, with alterations made in the 19th century. The upper gable ends are timber framed with plastered infill, while the lower part is constructed of whitewashed brick. The south front has been rebuilt in brick. The house features a half-hipped thatch roof with a central brick chimney. It has one and a half storeys and consists of two bays. The windows are paired barred wooden casements, with those on the ground floor having segmental heads, and one window on the first floor to the left set in thatch. Above the central lobby entry, there is a paired leaded casement also in thatch, and the entry is accessed through a board door located in a late 19th-century gabled porch. At the rear, there is an outshot.
