Description
No. 33 High Street is a house and shop that dates back to the 16th century, with alterations made in the 17th century and later. The building features a timber frame with brick infill, and the front is rendered. It has an old tile roof with brick chimneys located at the center and to the right. The structure is two storeys high and consists of four irregular bays, with the left bay gabled and slightly projecting towards the street. The first floor has a jettied design over the central bays and contains three-light wooden casement windows. The ground floor features a 20th-century shop front in the left bay, canted bay windows in the central bays, and a later three-light barred wooden casement window to the right. A central four-panelled door is framed by an architrave. Inside, the wide bay to the right of center includes moulded cross beams, stop-chamfered joists, and an inserted fireplace. The main tie beam in the room above is both cambered and chamfered, and the main posts are chamfered with heavy jowls.
